New Direx Engine beta is free to download

Every file. One place.
Time back for real work.

Direx Engine brings your files from local drives, network storage, cloud accounts, and SSH servers into one platform. So you stop hunting through folders, find what you need and to focus on the work that actually matters.

What it does

One search. Every file. Wherever it lives.

One search, every drive

Local folders, network storage, OneDrive, and servers you reach over SSH, all searchable from one place.

Finds files, not just filenames

Thumbnail previews and real details pulled from inside each file, like a spreadsheet's contents, a document's text, or a part's material and revision, so you can search by what something actually is, not just what it's named.

Version history, automatically

Every save is tracked automatically, with no manual check in or check out step required.

Every file type, one index

Drawings, documents, spreadsheets, design files. Direx Engine doesn't care what kind of file it is.

No data collection

We don't want
your data.

Nothing uploaded Every device starts blank No tracking in the app

This is about the app: the files it indexes never leave your machine, full stop. This marketing site, like most websites, does run basic visit analytics, see the Privacy Policy for what that is.

How it works

Set up once. Search forever.

The real app, not a mockup - a live index across local drives, network storage, and cloud accounts at once.

1

Point it at your files

Connect a folder, a NAS, a cloud account, or a server over SSH. Takes about a minute.

2

It indexes in the background

Direx Engine reads what's there and builds a searchable index automatically.

3

Search like it's all one place

Type what you're looking for. Find it, wherever it actually lives.

Your data

Exactly what we ask for, and why

Local folders, network drives, and servers you connect over SSH don't need anyone's permission, Direx Engine just reads them with the credentials you already have. Connecting a cloud account is the only time we request access, and here's exactly what we ask for. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.

Microsoft OneDrive, read only

We request Microsoft's Files.Read scope, the OneDrive equivalent: read access only, used the same way, to build your local index and nothing else.

Questions

Before you ask

What kind of files can it search?

Anything on the drives you connect: local folders, NAS, OneDrive, and any server you have SSH credentials for. If it's a file, Direx Engine can index it.

Does my data leave my computer?

No. Your files are indexed locally, on your own machine. Nothing is uploaded to our servers. See the Privacy Policy for the details.

Do I need to migrate anything?

No. Direx Engine indexes files where they already live, so there's nothing to move and no new folder structure to learn.

Stop searching. Start finding.

Direx Engine is free to download during early access, for engineers, creative professionals, and students.
