Terms of Service
Last updated: August 10, 2026
1. Agreement
These terms cover your use of Direx Engine, the desktop application, and the Decursa services that support it (together, "the Service"). Installing or using Direx Engine means you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. Early access
Direx Engine is currently in early access. Expect rough edges, missing features, and changes between versions while we build it out. We try to keep your data intact across updates, but early access software carries more risk than a finished release, and you should keep your own backups of anything important regardless of what Direx Engine does.
3. Accounts
Most of Direx Engine requires a Decursa account. You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for what happens under your account. You need to be old enough, under the law where you live, to agree to these terms yourself.
4. What the Service does
Direx Engine indexes files across the storage locations you connect (local folders, network drives, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive) and lets you search across all of them from one place. Indexing and search run locally on your machine as Read Only Operations. The hosted parts of the Service handle accounts, billing, and support, described fully in our Privacy Policy.
5. Connecting storage accounts
Connecting Google Drive or OneDrive grants Direx Engine read-only access to that account, and also means you're agreeing to Google's or Microsoft's own terms for their platforms, separately from these. You can disconnect a storage account at any time from inside the app.
6. Your files
Your files are yours. We don't claim any ownership over anything you index or search with Direx Engine, and we don't read or use the content of your files for anything beyond running the app's own search and preview features, on your own machine.
7. Subscriptions and billing
Paid tiers are billed through Stripe on a recurring basis until you cancel. You can manage or cancel a subscription from inside the app, or by emailing info@decursa.com. We don't offer refunds for partial billing periods, except where the law requires it.
8. Acceptable use
Don't use Direx Engine to access accounts or files you're not authorized to access. Don't try to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or abuse the hosted parts of the Service. Don't use it in a way that breaks Google's or Microsoft's own platform terms.
9. No warranty
Direx Engine is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, whether stated outright or implied. We don't promise it will be error-free, always available, or right for any particular purpose. Keeping backups of anything Direx Engine indexes is on you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows it, Decursa isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages from your use of the Service, including lost data. Our total liability for any claim is capped at whatever you paid us in the twelve months before the claim came up.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Direx Engine and delete your account whenever you want. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms, particularly the acceptable use section above.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. We'll update the date at the top of this page, and for anything material, we'll try to give existing users notice before it takes effect.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict of laws rules. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Service will be handled in the courts of Ontario, and you agree to that jurisdiction. Legal notices to Decursa should be sent to info@decursa.com.
